Aletopoli printer's device: the city of books and the motto In Aletopoli Sapere Aude

Publishing House 4.0

In the city of truth, dare to know!

We publish, in Italian and English, important books that deserve more readers, classics that never reached an e-book edition, and lesser works worth keeping for the future.

Against all censorship, against all ideology, for the courage of reason.

Our work

Saving books from oblivion

I

Every book in two languages

Every title is published in both Italian and English, with translations made using artificial intelligence. A good book should not stay locked inside the borders of one language.

II

Rediscovered books

We look for important public-domain works that have never had an Italian digital edition, and we bring them back into circulation for today’s readers.

III

Available for good

E-books and print on demand: no warehouses, no pulping, no sold-out print runs. An Aletopoli book stays available, today and tomorrow.

The name

A place that never existed

Between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, to escape political and religious censorship, many books were printed under an invented place of publication. Aletopoli was one of those imaginary addresses: a city found on no map, yet a shelter for dangerous ideas.

We chose that name for what it stands for: freedom of speech and freedom of thought.

In Aletopoli sapere aude
