Books worth keeping

Aletopoli - Publishing House 4.0 was founded to publish important books that deserve more readers, and lesser works that deserve to be kept for the future.

Our mission

Traditional publishing lives on novelty: a book has a few months to be noticed, then it goes out of print and often disappears. Many valuable works never reach a bookshop, others are never reprinted, and others have never had an Italian digital edition at all.

Aletopoli works the other way round. We choose books for their value and for the risk of their being forgotten, not for their immediate commercial potential. And once they are published, we keep them permanently available.

How we work

  • Two languages for every book. Every title is published in both Italian and English. Translations are made using artificial intelligence: it is the tool that lets us bring each work to a wider audience.
  • Rediscovered classics. We publish important public-domain works that do not yet exist as Italian e-books.
  • E-books and print on demand. Every paper copy is printed when someone orders it. No warehouses, no returns, no pulping: an Aletopoli book never goes out of print.
  • Many bookstores, one catalogue. We start with Amazon and will bring our titles to the other main online bookstores too, so every reader can find them where they prefer.

Why 4.0

For centuries, making a book required presses, paper, warehouses and distributors. Today printing is digital: print on demand, e-books and artificial intelligence allow a small publisher to do what used to be impossible, keeping a catalogue alive with no time limit. “4.0” means exactly this: today’s tools serving an ancient idea, the book as a place where thought stays free.

Against all censorship

Our name belongs to the history of clandestine books, printed under invented addresses to escape the censors. That is where our commitment comes from: to defend freedom of speech and thought, against all censorship, against all ideology, for the courage of reason.
